Fairly impressive, but 60+ yrs. later we can't stop a roadside bomb made out of a $30 cell phone, or a zealot looking for those virgins he heard about.

Now, in 2020s, we have young generations of zombies who are scared of creepy pasta stories in reddit and wouldn't last a few hours after the batteries of their phones or tablets go flat. I can't imagine what would they look like if they were in the position of those men at 02:10...

Good footage. It's clear in the image what people mean when they say the detonation looks like the sun. It does - to me.

That narration from 01:30 sounds to me like Vyacheslav Tikhonov. I wonder if it really was him and if he also did voice work apart from acting. Also from 02:10 around the middle bottom of the screen, looks like a sleeping animal got disturbed and started running for dear life.

Most of energy the released was lost to space above 5 megatons. It's why we have no more than 5 megaton weapons now.

Just for some perspective, the camera is 33 miles away in the shot of the village. If you detonated this bomb 6 miles into France at the channel crossing, and then stood on the English Coast in Dover, this is what you would see. And this bomb had a yield of 1.6 megatons... Imagine the power of the Tsar Bomba with a yield of 58 megatons (originally designed to be a hundred)
